Meet the Matchmaker
Meagan Ruest
I grew up in coastal Rhode Island, went to college in Massachusetts, worked for Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and recently moved to Nashville, TN. My hometown of Bristol, RI is known as one of the most patriotic in the country, so much so that I competed in our Miss Fourth of July pageant for several years and eventually placed to be able to ride on the float in the parade. On top of that, I love New England sports and enjoying traveling throughout New England. I recently relocated to Nashville, which is where I found matchbook collecting. Now, I have collected almost every match in the city and take pride in the long list of spots that I've been able to create. I'm so grateful to this unique way that has helped me see the city and enjoy so many spots that I may not have found otherwise. When I'm not looking for matchbooks, I enjoy country line dancing, all the live music the city has to offer and practicing and being around golf.

Warwick Country Club (Vintage, RI)
We got this matchbook super recently in Warwick, Rhode Island but the bartender let us know that it was vintage and recently recovered from the attic. I love the story behind it and I think the colors are so vibrant and the detail is so fun and coastal.
Star Rover Sound (Nashville)
I love the shape of these unique prism matchboxes and this is a great spot for live music and good food.
Opryland Hotel
Match South may have been the first place that I saw this matchbook from the Opryland Hotel but it definitely started my search to find one in Nashville. What actually happened though is that I was able to find my own while looking through a friend's relative's vintage collection all the way up in Massachusetts. I may not have gotten it in Nashville but I am so happy to have it as part of my collection.
Play Golf for Health
One of my favorites as an aspiring golf girlie. I also love the message and love the woman on the print!
Pebble Beach Resorts
Such an iconic spot in golf and love the shape of these boxes. I've seen collectors with these matchboxes and I hope to get my hands on my own someday by visiting Pebble Beach!
Red Sox (back)
I love this matchbook tribute to New England sports! Now we just need the Patriots, Bruins and Celtics.
Waymore's Casual Club (Nashville)
I've found this one to be one of the most sought after matchbooks in Nashville and from collectors. The detail on the original Waymore's matchbooks is super unique and amazing and now they have a second matchbook dedicated to their rooftop bar. It has also become one of my go to spots for a cute little hotel bar and was an amazing spot to watch the Fourth of July fireworks without being directly downtown.
